Bombay HC: Furnace Oil Not Part of ‘Plant & Machinery’, No Complete Sales Tax Set-Off - (13 Nov 2025)

SALES TAX/VAT

Bombay High Court held that manufacturers cannot claim full sales tax set-off on furnace oil used in producing goods partly sold in Maharashtra and partly transferred out. The Court ruled a 6% reduction applies under Rule 41D(3)(a), as furnace oil is not part of the dispatched goods.
