Supreme Court: States Cannot Use Taxation to Discriminate Against Out-of-State Goods - (25 Sep 2025)

SALES TAX/VAT

Supreme Court struck down a 2007 Rajasthan notification that gave VAT exemption to local asbestos sheet makers while taxing those from other states. It ruled that such discrimination is unconstitutional and creates a fiscal barrier to inter-state trade.
