Supreme Court: Maintenance or Permanent Alimony Should Not be Penal - (18 Jul 2024)

SC while passing an order of dissolution of marriage and ordering the husband to pay Rs. 2 Crore as permanent alimony, has observed that it is necessary to ensure that award of maintenance or permanent alimony should not be penal but should be to ensure a decent living standard for the wife.
