SC: NGT’s Direction to Initiate Action Under PMLA, Stayed on Ground of Lack of Jurisdiction - (13 May 2024)

ENVIRONMENT

SC has stayed National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) direction to initiate action against dumping of hazardous waste in violation of environmental norms and noted that National Green Tribunal has no jurisdiction to issue a direction to initiate action under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA).
