President Clears Currency Ban Ordinance - (02 Jan 2017)

President Pranab Mukherjee signed the Specific Bank Notes (Cessation of Liabilities) Ordinance, 2016 that seeks to extinguish RBI’s liability in respect of scrapped Rs 500 & Rs 1000 notes, prescribing penalty for holding or dealing in these notes beyond a threshold.
