Why Was CBI’s Deputy Chief Abruptly Moved Out, SC Asks Government - (12 Dec 2016)

The Centre's decision to appoint Gujarat cadre IPS officer Rakesh Asthana as interim CBI director has come under the Supreme Court's lens.Apex Court has sent notice to the Centre on a plea challenging his appointment and asked it to explain why second-in-command RK Dutta was shifted out of CBI just before director Anil Sinha was to retire.
