Supreme Court: State Cannot Acquire Temple Property Through Gift Deed - (19 Oct 2026)

TRUSTS AND SOCIETIES

Supreme Court held that a State, as custodian of temple properties, cannot acquire ownership through a gift deed. It ruled that transferring Tamil Nadu temple land to the government for constructing a Taluk Office was illegal.
