Delhi High Court: Trial Courts Must Verify an Accused’s Address Before Declaring Absconding - (12 Oct 2026)

CRIMINAL

Delhi High Court directed trial courts to verify whether an accused is deliberately evading summons or arrest before declaring them absconders or proclaimed offenders. Courts must independently examine service reports and warrants and record reasons in writing before passing such orders.
