SC: High Court’s Location doesn't Become Arbitration Seat Merely by Appointing Arbitrator - (24 Sep 2026)

ARBITRATION

Supreme Court held that an arbitration venue does not automatically become its juridical seat without express designation or agreement between the parties. It set aside the Orissa High Court’s ruling treating Cuttack as the seat merely because arbitral proceedings were held there.
