SC: Police Claim of Sufficient Material for Chargesheet Does Not Entitle Accused to Default Bail - (22 Sep 2026)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court held that merely stating sufficient material exists to file a chargesheet does not mean the investigation is complete. An extension may still be granted where more time is needed to analyse and collate witness statements, bank records, electronic evidence and other material.
