Supreme Court Upholds RBI’s Power to Supersede Multi-State Co-op Bank Boards Beyond Six Months - (07 Sep 2026)

BANKING

Supreme Court has ruled that the RBI can supersede the board of a multi-state co-operative bank beyond six months, holding that the Banking Regulation Act governs such banks despite the limit under Article 243ZL(1) of the Constitution.
