Calcutta HC Rejects Reliance on ‘Vedic Mantras’, Commutes Death Sentence in Wife’s Murder Case - (31 Aug 2026)

CRIMINAL

Calcutta High Court faulted a trial court for relying on Vedic marriage mantras to classify a wife’s murder as a “rarest of rare” case. It noted that the lower court was also influenced by the brutal daytime killing at her father’s house in front of family members.
