Supreme Court: Lift Makers, Operators and Owners Share Responsibility for User Safety - (31 Jul 2026)

CIVIL

Supreme Court ruled that manufacturers, operators and building owners share joint liability for ensuring elevator safety. Holding that elevators function as common carriers, it observed that passengers are wholly dependent on their operation and must receive the highest degree of protection.
