Supreme Court: Registration Certificate Alone Can't Secure Interim Release of Seized Vehicles - (28 Jul 2026)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court held that registration certificate alone does not determine entitlement to interim custody of a seized vehicle under Sections 451 and 457 of the CrPC. Court observed that “Registration is a relevant factor, but it is evidentiary and not conclusive of entitlement to interim possession.”
