Supreme Court: Cognisance of FERA Complaint is Invalid Without Prior Notice to the Accused - (22 Jul 2026)

SC held that Magistrate cannot take cognisance of a complaint under FERA unless mandatory opportunity notice is first served on the accused. It consequently quashed the complaints and summoning orders against Standard Chartered Bank and its officer for non-compliance with Section 61(2) of the Act.
