J&K&L High Court: Mere Admission of Issuing Cheque is Not a Plea of Guilt under S.138 NI Act - (22 Jul 2026)

BANKING

Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court held that admitting cheque issuance or offering settlement under Section 251 CrPC does not amount to a guilty plea. It ruled that only a voluntary, unequivocal admission covering all ingredients of the offence can justify conviction without trial.
