Calcutta HC: Aadhaar Card Prima Facie Establishes Occupation; Demolition Without Notice is Unlawful - (22 Jul 2026)

Calcutta HC held that although an Aadhaar Card is not conclusive proof of residence or ownership, it serves as prima facie evidence of occupation under the Public Premises Act, 1971. It restrained authorities from carrying out demolition or eviction without following the statutory procedure.
