J&K&L High Court: Writs Lie Against Cooperative Banks Performing Public Functions - (22 Jul 2026)

CONSTITUTION

Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court held that writ jurisdiction under Article 226 depends on the presence of a public law element, not Article 12 status. It ruled that a cooperative bank performing public functions under RBI regulation is amenable to writ jurisdiction.
