SC: Magistrates Can’t Ask Police to Investigate Private Criminal Defamation Complaint - (28 Jul 2016)

SC, while prima facie finding fault with a lower court order asking Maharashtra cops to probe defamation case against Congress VP Rahul Gandhi, has said that Magistrates cannot ask police to investigate private criminal defamation complaint.
