Supreme Court Revives over Rs.16 Crore Service Tax Demand Against BPCL and HPCL in CNG Sales Case - (21 Jul 2026)

Supreme Court restored service tax demands exceeding Rs.16 crore against BPCL and HPCL, holding they acted as commission agents for Mahanagar Gas Ltd. in selling CNG. The Court ruled their role qualified as "Business Auxiliary Service" under the Finance Act, as they only promoted sales.
