Supreme Court Urged Railways to Drop the Term Second-Class Passengers - (20 Jul 2026)

Supreme Court advised Indian Railways to review its use of the term “second-class passenger,” observing that the classification should refer to the coach rather than the traveller, as describing individuals in this manner is inconsistent with the constitutional principles of equality and dignity.
