Supreme Court: Appellate Courts Cannot Overturn Trial Court Verdicts Without Independent Reasons - (16 Jul 2026)

Supreme Court held that a first appellate court cannot reverse a trial court's judgment by merely calling it erroneous. It must independently assess the evidence, record its own reasons, and, while reversing factual findings, act as a friend, philosopher, and guide to subordinate courts.
