CCPA Fines Chaayos Rs.50,000 for Default Inclusion of Service Charge in Bills - (15 Jul 2026)

CONSUMER

Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) imposed a Rs.50,000 penalty on Chaayos for automatically adding service charges to customers’ bills through its software system, holding that a default charge included in bills cannot be treated as a voluntary payment by consumers.
