Bombay High Court: Revenue Officers Cannot Decide Caste Status to Remove Tribal Land Protections - (13 Jul 2026)

Bombay HC held that revenue officers cannot determine a person's caste or tribe status while exercising powers under the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code. It ruled that only the Caste Scrutiny Committee can decide Scheduled Tribe status, and revenue authorities cannot deny statutory tribal protections.
