Supreme Court Revives POCSO Case Against Headmistress, Says Verifying Abuse Claims is No Excuse - (10 Jul 2026)

CRIMINAL

SC held that a school official cannot avoid liability under the POCSO Act by privately verifying a child's sexual abuse complaint instead of reporting it. It ruled that failure to report under Section 19 attracts criminal liability under Section 21, punishable with imprisonment, fine, or both.
