Rajasthan HC Clarifies Criminal Writ Petitions Have No Separate Constitutional Status - (09 Jul 2026)

Rajasthan HC clarified that the Constitution does not recognize a separate category of "criminal writ petitions." It held that writs arising from criminal matters should not be registered under a distinct criminal designation and must instead be treated and listed simply as writ petitions.
