P&H HC: BNSS Pre-Cognizance Hearing Doesn't Apply to Serious Fraud Investigation Office Cases - (09 Jul 2026)

P&H HC has ruled that the pre-cognizance hearing under Section 223 of the BNSS does not apply to prosecutions initiated by the SFIO under the Companies Act. It held that an SFIO investigation report is deemed a police report, excluding procedural safeguards meant for complaint cases.
