Madras HC: Election Plea Becomes Infructuous After Assembly Term Ends, Barring Corruption - (09 Jul 2026)

ELECTION

Madras HC dismissed an election challenge to the 2021 Assembly result, holding that petitions based on grounds other than corrupt practices become infructuous once the Assembly's tenure ends. As both candidates lost in the subsequent election, the Court found no surviving issue for adjudication.
