Cal HC: Wife’s Ancestral Property Claim Can Amount to Dowry Demand if Made under Husband's Pressure - (07 Jul 2026)

Calcutta HC has observed that a wife's claim to ancestral property may amount to a dowry demand under Section 304B IPC if made due to continuous pressure and coercion by her husband. The Court upheld the husband's dowry death conviction, acquitted his parents, and reduced his sentence to 10 years.
