Supreme Court: Pedestrians' Right to Footpaths Cannot be Overridden by Motorists - (22 Jun 2026)

CONSTITUTION

Supreme Court held that the right to walk on safe, well-demarcated footpaths is a fundamental right under Article 19(1)(d), giving pedestrians priority over motorised traffic, as walking is inextricably linked to daily life and must be protected as part of personal liberty.
