SC: Assigning Mathadhipati’s Secular Duties to Govt Officer Violates Art 26, Undermines Mahantship - (01 Jun 2026)

SC held that the State cannot permanently separate the religious and secular functions of a mathadhipati by assigning secular duties to a government-appointed administrator, stating that such an arrangement undermines the concept of mahantship protected under Article 26 of the Constitution.
