Supreme Court: Appellate Courts Reversing Acquittal Must Themselves Hear Convicts on Sentence - (27 May 2026)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court held that when an appellate court reverses an acquittal and convicts an accused, it must itself hear the convict on sentencing and cannot remand the matter to the trial court solely for imposition of sentence.
