Gauhati HC: Burden Of Proving Citizenship Stays With Proceedee and Does Not Shift At Any Stage - (26 May 2026)

Gauhati High Court held that in Foreigners Tribunal proceedings, the burden to prove citizenship lies entirely on the proceedee and cannot be discharged through vague pleadings, inconsistent voter lists, or unverified certificates lacking contemporaneous documentary evidence.
