Supreme Court: Preventive Detention Unwarranted When Ordinary Law Suffices to Maintain Order - (18 May 2026)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court has set aside a preventive detention order under the MPDA Act, 1981, holding that such detention is not justified when the matter can be addressed under ordinary law and there is no clear material showing any threat to public order.
