Supreme Court: Bail Must Be Considered if Speedy Trial Rights are Violated, Regardless of Offence - (05 May 2026)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court held that the right to a speedy trial cannot be violated regardless of the offence’s gravity, and granted bail to a murder undertrial, citing his prolonged incarceration and the unlikelihood of the trial concluding in the near future.
