Supreme Court Grants Probation to Convicts; Rules Fine-Only Cases Also Eligible - (14 Apr 2026)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court held that benefit under the Probation of Offenders Act applies even where only fine is imposed. It granted probation to three convicts and admonition to one, stressing reform over punishment and ruling such relief removes service disqualification.
