Meghalaya HC: Petitioner Must Personally Present Election Petitions Before the HC - (07 Apr 2026)

ELECTION

Meghalaya HC held that u/s 81(1) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, an election petition must be personally presented by the petitioner to the HC’s authorized officer, ruling that non-compliance is a fatal defect affecting maintainability and can lead to dismissal under Section 86(1).
