SC: New Tree Growth on Land Approved For Development Does Not Qualify it as 'Deemed Forest' - (23 Mar 2026)

ENVIRONMENT

Supreme Court held that land approved for development under a notified Master Plan does not become a “deemed forest” due to later tree growth, and thus, prior Central Government approval under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 is not needed to cut such trees.
