SC: Dishonour of a Post-Dated Cheque Alone Does Not Establish Dishonest Intent For Cheating - (20 Mar 2026)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court held that dishonour of a post-dated cheque alone does not prove cheating, stressing that criminal liability arises only if fraudulent intent existed at the outset of the transaction, and cannot be inferred merely from a later failure to honour a promise.
