Supreme Court: Call Detail Records Require Section 65B Evidence Act Certificate to be Admissible - (12 Mar 2026)

LAW OF EVIDENCE

SC acquitted a man in a murder case, ruling that call detail records cannot be relied upon as evidence unless they are accompanied by the mandatory certificate u/s 65-B of the Indian Evidence Act. The Court held that in the absence of this certificate, such electronic records are inadmissible.
