Calcutta HC Reduces Man's Sentence, Holding Bamboo Stick or Rod Not A Weapon Likely To Cause Death - (05 Mar 2026)

CRIMINAL

Calcutta High Court held that although a fracture constitutes “grievous hurt” under the IPC, assault with a bamboo stick or rod does not automatically amount to use of a dangerous weapon under Section 326. The Court altered the conviction of six persons to Section 325 IPC and reduced their sentence.
