SC: Police Failure to Invoke IPC Provisions Led to Contractor’s Acquittal in Cement Stockpiling Case - (16 Feb 2026)

CRIMINAL

SC set aside the contractor’s conviction for allegedly stockpiling cement meant for public works project holding that police failed to invoke relevant IPC provisions and that in the absence of any statutory control over cement at the time conviction under Essential Commodities Act was unsustainable.
