Supreme Court Holds CrPC Principles on Discharge and Framing of Charges Continue under BNSS - (12 Feb 2026)

SC has observed that the substantive legal principles governing discharge and framing of charges at the pre-trial stage under the CrPC remain unchanged under the BNSS, though the BNSS introduces a regulatory framework prescribing 60-day timelines for filing discharge pleas and framing charges.
