SC: Under RTE Act, States Cannot Justify Low Teacher Pay by Citing Centre’s Failure to Release Funds - (05 Feb 2026)

CONSTITUTION

Supreme Court has ruled that a State cannot justify paying teachers a meagre honorarium by citing the Centre’s failure to release funds, holding that implementing the Right to Education Act is primarily the State’s responsibility, which must pay teachers first and recover the Centre’s share later.
