Supreme Court: While a Child’s Welfare is Paramount, It is Not the Sole Factor in Custody Disputes - (05 Feb 2026)

Supreme Court emphasised that child custody decisions cannot be based solely on welfare, holding that courts must also consider other relevant factors such as parental conduct, financial capacity, standard of living, and the child’s comfort and education.
