Delhi HC: Dacoity Convicts U/S 395 IPC Cannot Claim Benefit under the Probation of Offenders Act - (02 Feb 2026)

CRIMINAL

Delhi High Court ruled that probation under the Probation of Offenders Act, 1958 is unavailable to persons convicted of dacoity under Section 395 IPC, since the offence carries punishment of life imprisonment and falls outside the scope of Section 4.
