Authorities Holding Public Auctions Must Disclose All Known Encumbrances and Related Litigation - (21 Jan 2026)

Supreme Court held that non-disclosure of pending litigation and encumbrances vitiates a public auction, and directed the Ludhiana Improvement Trust to refund ?1.57 crore with interest after it auctioned a plot without informing bidders that it was already subject to a civil suit.
