SC: Hindu Daughter-In-Law Widowed After Her Father-In-Law’s Death is Entitled to Maintenance - (13 Jan 2026)

SC has held that under the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956, a daughter-in-law who becomes a widow after her father-in-law’s death is entitled to maintenance from his estate, ruling that the phrase “any widow of his son” includes all widowed daughters-in-law.
