Supreme Court: Concluded Auction Cannot Be Cancelled Merely To Invite Higher Bids at a Later Stage - (08 Jan 2026)

COMMERCIAL

SC has held that once a bidder is declared the highest in a lawfully conducted auction rights & obligations crystallize obligating the authority to issue an allotment letter & the mere prospect of higher bids later cannot justify cancelling the auction as such action would be arbitrary & irrational.
