SC: Exoneration in Disciplinary Proceedings Does Not Always Bar Criminal Prosecution - (07 Jan 2026)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court held that a public servant’s exoneration in departmental proceedings does not automatically justify quashing a criminal case, especially in corruption trap matters, as disciplinary and criminal proceedings are independent and governed by different standards of proof.
